Things are not always as they may first appear..

We are about to hit ´wedding season´ here and the excitement and anticipation is building. Our first wedding is  in a few days and I am so looking forward to sharing it with you. Everything is ready and prepped and we in are in control. Except for the weather and it isn´t looking too good. Agh! No matter how many events we do and how prepared we are, something always crops up to test us. But I love it and thrive on it.

So after checking the 14 day forecast every 5 minutes and praying for sun (which I have faith will pitch up and banish the rain as is very often the case here) I decided to take a break and refocus. I then came across this ´real wedding´ on offbeatbride.com (one of my favourite stomping grounds) and I love the way it illustrates that things are often not what they may seem.

Picture it : beautiful bride, stunning white dress, handsome husband, relaxed, dreamy beach setting....

It all looks so ´normal´ and then these quirky details pop up and it turns the idea of a ´normal´ wedding right on its head.

BRILLIANT!! x

Mercury glass mayhem

Currently mercury glass decorations are bang on trend and are popping up all over the place. An event can be saturated with mercury glass vases and adornments or kept simple with a few votives holders (for example) here and there to complement other decorations such as glass or crystal. Vintage style weddings are popular again this year as is the romantic look. With the romantic look think delicate lace, light colour palettes and dreamy, soft accessories. Mercury glass decorations will totally complement either of these looks and add elegance and charm.

Now, I know we are not quite ready to scoff Easter eggs (ok, I lie, I am always ready to scoff anything chocolate related) and break out the Easter chicks just yet but here´s a simple idea to bring a bit of mercury glass inspiration to Easter decorating at home. Take a tree such as this one below and add a few of these lovely bird and/or rabbit adornments, place a few mercury glass votives to surround the tree and voila, enjoy (along with a nice big Easter egg!)

Tutu heaven for little girls

There is something so totally cute about little girls in tutus isn´t there? Even the most un-frou frou of people seem to melt when a little darling appears in a tutu. Fluffy and girlie, bright and bold with lots of ribbon - the look is so versatile and the colours can be coordinated into the theme of your day. More and more tutus are replacing the traditional flower girl dresses and it´s easy to see why. Apart from making a fashion statement there is an elegant and classic quality to them. This coupled with the fact that they are cooler in the hot weather we have here makes them an increasingly popular choice. We heart them!
