Sometimes when I meet clients they have tons of ideas of how they want their wedding day to look but more often than not, we get to the pool area (if there is one at the venue) and they look at me slightly worried and say ´Hmmm now what do we do here?´. It´s quite simple to make a feature of the pool without it looking like an afterthought.
Here a few ideas:
If you are dining around the pool and having flowers on the tables how about putting some in the pool to bring everything together? This is also a good deterrent to any guests thinking about jumping in the pool later on if that´s something you really don´t want them to do!

If you are having a themed event, for example a Moroccan style, putting some colourful lanterns around the pool will continue your theme and look lovely as the sun goes down.
These wax lanterns called Velas de Ballena are really popular with the Spanish for their weddings and events. They come in a variety of shapes and colours and look so pretty when dusk turns to dark. Plus the smaller sizes can float.
Balloons filled with helium and set at different heights look stunning too. This image is from a wedding we decorated last season for the couple´s cocktail hour. We used little lights inside the balloons and as it grew darker the lights glowed and the effect was gorgeous.
Or if you really want to go a little crazy, fill the pool with synchronised swimmers. It´s certainly one way to do something a bit different and be a topic of conversation over supper!
